Thermal oil
Thermal oil heat exchangers can also be used for higher clean gas temperatures. The advantage of these systems over water is that the heat to be transferred is at a higher temperature level. Thermal oils have a higher evaporation point, which means that they can also be operated at temperatures of 300 °C.
This opens up more possibilities for energy transfer to support production lines energetically. A further advantage arises when the distances between heat absorption and heat dissipation are far apart, as the higher temperature level means that heat losses due to transportation distance are easier to cope with.
Depending on the application, these heat exchangers are designed as smooth tubes or finned tubes. This depends primarily on the dust content still present in the clean gas. The heat exchangers are equipped with cleaning openings or, in some cases, are designed as a retractable register.
